United Way NCA organizes the region’s largest online giving day, Do More 24, an annual Day of Giving for registered non-profits in the national capital area.
Do More 24 is a local movement that brings together nonprofit organizations, businesses and people committed to making a difference.
Each year, United Way NCA organizes different volunteer activities for the community to support Do More 24.
This year, we are hosting “Stuff the Bus” an initiative to provide 24,000 backpacks with supplies (school supplies, personal care products and/or non-perishable foods) to area children, veterans and people experiencing homelessness by 2020.
Our goal for Do More 24 is to stuff 1,200 backpacks to distribute to area children. This is an outdoor activity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Distribute postcards/flyers to passerby’s to promote Do More 24
- Accept, sort and count donations
- Stuff backpacks with supplies and a note card
- Write words of inspiration on notes cards
- Perform other tasks as requested
Requirements:
- Ability to stand and work on feet for 2 hours.
- Lift 5 to 20 pounds.
