Welcome to the United Way NCA Volunteer Team!
We are so excited you found us and can't wait to have you join one of our upcoming volunteer events supporting the ALICE population across the National Capital Area!
If you haven't already, the first step to becoming a volunteer is creating your Get Connected profile.
To create a profile, click on the SIGN-UP button in top right corner of the screen. You will be prompted to enter your information, electronically sign our volunteer waivers, and select your favorite causes and interests.
Already have an account? You're ready to find your next volunteer opportunity!
Click on NEEDS on the left-side menu to browse our upcoming volunteer opportunities. You can search by keywords, sort alphabetically or by date, and filter roles based on a wide variety of characteristics. Once you find a position title that sounds interesting, click VIEW DETAILS to see shift times, responsibilities, and requirements.
Once you are ready to commit to a role that fits your availability and matches your interests, click on the blue RESPOND button.
You will receive email confirmation once you have successfully registered for the upcoming need, along with any additional information you might require for a successful project. Once you commit to a project, we will be counting on you to be there to accomplish the tasks laid out in the position description.
If your availability changes and you are no longer able to complete your volunteer task, please let us know as soon as possible.
If we are more than 24 hours from the scheduled start time of the shift, you can remove yourself from the schedule right here in Get Connected. Just click on your initials in the top right corner, click on NEED RESPONSES, then use the drop-down menu to UNREGISTER from the need.
What is Get Connected and why do I need an account?
Get Connected is our volunteer management platform and your one-stop-shop for all things volunteerism. This is where we match you with our upcoming volunteer projects
Most of our volunteer opportunities are projects with clear deliverables or tasks to accomplish within the allotted project time. A few opportunities allow for volunteers to take on increased responsibility and leadership roles.
